Description
This edition includes both a new translation of the Pentateuch and Haftarot — excerpts from the Prophets that conclude the weekly Torah reading in the synagogue and are thematically related to that section.
The goal of the new translation is to offer readers a literary Russian text of the Torah that is as close as possible in meaning to the ancient Hebrew original.
The translation is in line with Jewish tradition, drawing on Jewish exegesis, primarily the classic medieval commentary of Rashi.
